Rachel is a fashion designer who’s worked with Marc Jacobs, Erdem, Emilia Wickstead and Simone Rocha. Baz is a film photographer and keen traveller. Their style is influenced by everywhere they’ve lived — Madrid, New York, London — and by 60s editorials: Mick Jagger, George Harrison, Jane Birkin. So when it came to their pre-wedding shoot, they weren’t going to just turn up in jeans.
We met in Luss on the western shores of Loch Lomond, started with a bottle of bubbly in my campervan, then walked along the beach and pier before heading up Beinn Dubh. Both of them are committed vintage and second-hand shoppers, so everything was styled with intention. Baz wore a vintage duster coat and trousers with an R.M. Williams shirt and Edmmond Studios knit. Rachel wore a white slip dress from an independent LA designer, a vintage overcoat, Birkenstocks (swapped for Hunter wellies when things got muddy), Simone Rocha cherub socks, an &Daughter aran knit, and her nanna’s white leather gloves. As she put it: “My background in fashion has honed my eye for detail and layering the outfits and textures with the Scottish setting in mind was something I particularly enjoyed working on. An aran jumper felt like a must.”
And then the weather arrived. Wind, rain, the full Scottish welcome. They loved it. “Our first ever date was a rainy walk in Greenwich Park so it felt very familiar. Getting out of London and being able to dance on the side of a mountain in the rain, with the view of Loch Lomond, will be an everlasting memory.”
These two get married next June, and I genuinely can’t wait.
