The Editorial Book

I wanted to offer a book I’d be excited to have on my own bookshelf.

Large vertical format, up to 240 pages – these books have the feel of a luxury magazine and the scale of a coffee table book.

For me, designing a book is a continuation of making the photographs. I enjoy finding unexpected pairings, moving between full-page images and smaller sequences, and deciding where to leave space. With a fully customisable cover too, I can bring that same editorial eye to the book as a whole.

Working with Glasgow-based designer Tom Joyes to create my own photobook deepened my understanding of the sequencing of images in a book and how they relate to each other on a page. The photo book was selected as a winner at the 2024 Belfast Photo Festival. This experience informs the care I take in selecting, pairing and arranging your photographs.

Designed with you

I always begin by having a conversation with you about the people, photographs and parts of the day that matter most to you. You can share your favourites, or you can leave the initial selection to me. I then work out which pictures belong together, which deserve a page to themselves and how the whole thing flows. The photographs and the atmosphere of your celebration will guide these decisions. I’ll send you the first design and we’ll work through your changes together before it goes to print.
